Portfolio Implementation
This is my portfolio implementation page. It shows how I implemented my original designs in my notebook onto my Hotglue site. I have altered many things in order to make the site look better and be easier to interact with. The image on the right is the original homepage setup i came up with. As you can see i matched up the homepage with the grid feature to give me a rough guide on how i wanted my homepage to look.
1st Design
This is what my homepage looked like after adding some content in. The sections each linked to a certain page once clicked. The issue I had with this setup is that by matching the homepage sections with the grid feature, it created a scroll bar on the bottom of the page in which i had to use in order to access the right hand side of the page.
2nd Design
I updated my homepage so that there was no reason to scroll in order to access the right hand side of the page. The issue I had with the way this was setup is that it looked very basic and I felt that there was an easier and more professional way to show my content.
3rd Design
After editing my homepage once again, I have decided to keep this design as I feel that it looks better and performs better as it is easier to access other pages from any part of the site. It shows off all of my pages whilst leaving a larger space for me to add my content in.
After adding some content to my Hotglue site, I realised that I was unable to access the homepage unless I clicked the back button in the browser. I simply added a home button to each page so I am able to freely move about the site without any issues.
Summary
To summarize i am happy with the process of how i managed to change and come up with a better design for my portfolio. The portfolio design exercise was useful so i could see how my site would work and look on paper before i actually started to build it. Once i began building my first layout i realized a few issues whilst using Hotglue immediately. I decided to change the design to something that was functional, but it turned out to be very basic and not symmetric with how the rest of the site was going to look. My 3rd design works really well and provides me with easy access to every page across the site whilst keeping the same design. It functions well and i have plenty of room to manipulate content to my liking.
